The harp is one of the most ancient, beautiful and versatile instruments. This is your chance to learn the basic principles of harp playing, some simple solo pieces and some fun ensembles with one of the UK's most experienced harp tutors. You will be provided with a lever harp and no previous knowledge of music is necessary, but please bring a notepad, pencil, rubber and plenty of enthusiasm!
Introduction to the harp. Sitting at the instrument and how to use your right hand.
Tunes for the right hand and starting your left hand.
Tunes for the left hand and playing with both hands.
Learning some simple pieces using both hands. Starting to play ensembles.
Ensembles and preparation for public demonstration.
This is a basic introduction to learning the harp. Instruments will be provided and no previous knowledge of music is necessary, although it would be an advantage. The itinerary is flexible and allows some practice time.
What to bring:
A notepad, pencil and rubber. Micropore Tape (from chemists) as your fingers may get sore from plucking the strings.
