Making a Film

Tutors: Mr Nigel Wattis
Week: 3

Course Details

The BAFTA winning director returns with his ever-popular filmmaking course. If you have never made a film before, this is where to start. If you do already make films, this course will help you make them better. Use your imagination and learn new skills while making a film, from writing the script through to the final cut. It's a brilliant way to have fun, learn industry secrets and insider tips, as well as getting to grips with the basics. There will be technical instruction in camera operation and editing with a top filmmaker giving you advice, guidance and a DVD to take home.

Course Notes

The course will be led by BAFTA-winning filmmaker Nigel Wattis, who has produced and directed over fifty one-hour documentaries for ITV, BBC and Channel 4, winning over twenty awards at festivals around the world. He has been a Series Producer for ITV and Channel 4, an Executive Producer and Head of Arts and Features for LWT and Granada Productions. Nigel also has an MA in teaching media from the Institute of Education at University College London.

This is a "hands-on” course. Participants will make an original short film during the week, using their imaginations to build on an initial brief. No previous film experience is needed and everyone gets a chance to help write the script, direct, act and operate the camera.
