General Information

MCSEC is part of Marlborough College Summer School which attracts a diverse range of students from all over the world. Most of students who attend Marlborough College Summer School are from the UK. In the morning, MCSEC pupils will be studying English with other non-native speakers. In the afternoon Selective Courses, our students will be studying alongside local and international students. The common language used on the course is always English.

We have 60 places for each programme.

We accept students between the ages of 12 to 17.

We run two programmes in 2024.

The first programme runs from 7-20 July.

The second programme runs from 21 July - 3 August.

Many students can pursue studies in the UK for up to six months without a visa, and those from EU or EEA countries, as well as countries on the 'non visa national' list, are exempt from visa requirements. However, students from some nationalities must apply for a Standard Visitor visa prior to their travel.

Support for visa applications is available, and detailed information on visa requirements can be found on the English UK Education is Great website.

It is advised to consult the latest advice on the UK Government website to check if a visa is required.

There are four levels of courses in the programme:

  • Language Launchpad
  • Fluent Foundations
  • Progressive Pathways

Selective Courses

An almost endless amount of new skills will be learnt on the course. The core skills that we base the course around however are those of critical thinking, the ability to embrace challenge and change, and the ability to collaborate and work as a team. Language skills, of course, underpin everything that we do.

At the end of the course the students will take home a record of achievement detailing the areas of study covered on the course and a certificate with their scores for effort and the end of course assessment. They will also take home a folder containing their study materials from the course. Following completion of the course, students will be sent a report detailing their progression and achievements on the course.

Enrichment Activities

We offer a range of exciting optional activities from 17:00 to 18:00. These activities provide pupils with the opportunity to further enhance their skills, explore new interests, and enjoy recreational pursuits in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.

We continue to offer an exciting and engaging programme of activities and events in the evening. Our evening programme is designed to entertain, inspire, and create unforgettable experiences for our pupils.

Excursions

There are in total three full day excursions and one twilight trip in the programme.

Pupils will be visiting London, Oxford, Windsor Castle, Harry Potter Studio, Bleinham Palace and Avebury.
