Act one: take to the stage!

Act one beginners, take to the stage! In our 'get creative week' workshop, your child will immerse themselves in the world of theatre with our interactive drama sessions. Suitable for all abilities and levels. Discovering performing arts skills, the week will entwine acting methods, vocal technique and physical theatre culminating in a powerful end of week show for family and friends. Workshops include improvisation exercises and scene rehearsal taking inspiration from practitioners such as Stanislavski, Brecht and Berkoff. So, join us for fun, make new friends and stretch your imagination while being coached with a teaching professional who has worked in the industry.

Course details

Whilst they learn performing arts skills, the week will entwine acting methods, vocal technique and physical theatre culminating in a powerful end-of-week show for family and friends. Act one - Get Creative Week

  • Day one - introduction
    Games, icebreakers and exercises incorporating discipline confidence and trust.
    Skills: characterisation, physical theatre, tableau work.
  • Day two - building on our skills
    Script work, including analysis, subtext,given circumstance, objectives and super objectives.
    Skills: mime, fourth wall
  • Day three - The story begins
    Devising improvisation on a given stimuli
    Skills: soundscape, blocking, setting, improvisation both spontaneous and devised.
  • Day four - finishing the story
    Finish devising improvisation adding in final touches
    Skills: critiquing, teamwork, creativity
  • Day five - showtime
    Rehearse and put on a showcase for family and friends
    Skills: confidence, listening and responding, narrative, communication and imagined situation, performing in front of an audience.
